Cambridge, April 2025 -  As a capstone to the Executive MBA program at BBI Cambridge, candidates had the prestigious opportunity to present their thesis projects to a senior leadership team at AstraZeneca, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies and BBI Cambridge education collaborator. This high-impact, real-world exercise formed a critical component of the MBA experience, bridging academic rigor with practical industry application.

The morning began with participant introductions, followed by a strategic presentation by Christopher Church (Head of Technology Search, Evaluation and Transactions at AZ) and joined by other key members of AstraZeneca team including Andrea Burgos (Director Alliance & Integration Management), Robin Owen (Head of Alliance and Integration Management), and Shaun Grady (Chair of AstraZeneca, UK).

During the session, students had the opportunity to present and defend their project pitches, receiving insights from a panel of experts from AstraZeneca & BBI Cambridge teams (Mark Treherne, Chris Howie, Juan Garcia, Pooja Datt) and Soyoung Park (General Partner at 1004 Venture Partners, California, USA). Key topics explored throughout the morning included rare diseases, pain management, proteomics, growth factors, and the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) market. The discussions focused on analysing global market trends, identifying strategic opportunities, operational scaling, and exploring innovative business prospects.

This experience not only marked the culmination of the Executive MBA journey but also prepared participants to step confidently into senior leadership roles with a proven ability to deliver impactful business solutions in high-stakes environments.
